Want to sleep through your dental treatment?

Residents of Warragul have access to sedation options when they visit Pacific Smiles Dental.

If you are a nervous patient, someone who require a lot of treatment in the one session, or who wants to be more comfortable during a long, complex procedure, being sedated during dental treatment might be an option for you.

Pacific Smiles Dental, Warragul offers a service called IV sedation. Patients are placed into an unaware state by an Anaesthetist, who is assisted by a registered nurse. The patient will be unaware and relaxed, but able to respond to requests by the dentist, and unable to feel any pain. The patient will not remember any of the procedure. The Anaesthetist and nurse monitor the patient’s sedative state, while the patient’s regular Dentist performs the required dental treatment in the comfort of our well equipped dental centre.

Sedation Process:

• The Anaesthetist and nurse place the patient under sedation
• The dentist completes required dental treatment
• The Anaesthetist and nurse remain in the room throughout the entire treatment
• Post treatment, the Anaesthetist brings the patient back to consciousness
• The patient recovers for around 30 minutes and is monitored by the nurse until recovered and able to leave the dental centre

Before undergoing dental treatment a questionnaire needs to be completed by the patient and a consultation occurs pre-appointment to determine suitability. The service is not available for children 12 years of age and under, and the patient needs to be in good health.
